WILD TROUT TRUST REPORT

The Wild Trout Trust were invited to Cromford a few weeks ago and have now completed their report with very interesting advice on how best to manage our river, and I urge you all to read it. The full report is available at the bottom of the Environmental page or in Documents in the Members Area.

Latest Kick Sample Results

On Wednesday 24th May Bob Lomax, Chris Heath and Jonathan Park took some kick samples in various spots down at Provost's for a total of 3 minutes. We then went back to the lodge to sort through the invertebrates with the following results (we even had a couple hatching as we were counting!):

Blue Winged Olive. 14 (2)
Olives. 100+ (3)
Heptagenid 50+ (2)
Mayfly 1 (1)
Gammarus 13 (2)
Case Caddis 30 (2)
Caseless Caddis 21 (2)
Stonefly 3 (1)

The figures in brackets are the points scored as set out by the Riverfly Partnership - 1 point for 1-10, 2 points for 11-100, and 3 points for 100+

Total points 15 which is a good result given previous readings.

Missing Ladders

Mark Thomas left a set of concertina steps/ladder in the Lodge last year for putting up signs but they seem to have disappeared when he looked for them today – anybody know what’s happened to them or borrowed them? It’s no big issue but he’d like them back at some point please!

NEW CLUB WEBSITE

We are excited to announce the launch of the new website for the Cromford Fly-Fisher’s Club. As an open and transparent club the new website will be available to the public with details of our organisation and how we operate, as well as news of our husbandry of the river as part of the local environmental community that looks after our wonderful Derbyshire countryside. You will also find information on our club’s history, membership options and upcoming events.

In the Members Area the website will serve as a hub for all of our club’s news and events, as well as a repository for important club documents. We will also be featuring articles and tips from our experienced members, as well as beautiful photography from our favorite fishing spots.

We hope that this website will bring our club closer together and provide a valuable resource for both current and prospective members. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for the Cromford Fly-Fisher’s Club, and we hope you will join us in celebrating this exciting new development.

Updated Club Logo

Along with the new website the club logo has also received a small refresh. The ‘spirit’ of the original logo has been retained, and a new logo takes it’s place to replace a rather pixelated looking predecessor!
